Loop-powered signal isolator

TW500

Loop-powered signal isolator for 0(4)..20 mA DC signals, isolating current loops without a separate power supply in 1-, 2- or 3-channel versions within a 22.5 mm DIN rail housing.

Introduction

Current loop isolation should not add unnecessary wiring or cabinet space. TW500 isolates 0(4)..20 mA DC signals directly from the loop, without a separate power supply, giving control systems a compact interface for standard analog current signals.

Up to three channels can be housed in one 22.5 mm DIN rail case, making the device useful where several loops need isolation in a narrow cabinet section. The low voltage drop below 2.7 V at I ≤ 20 mA helps preserve loop headroom, while accuracy below 0.1 % supports dependable signal transmission.

The device is designed for straightforward DIN rail installation with screw terminals up to 2.5 mm². With 3 kV DC test voltage between input and output, case IP30 and IP20 finger-safe terminals, TW500 provides practical electrical separation for protected control cabinet environments.

Features

Loop-powered operation

The device is powered directly from the 0(4)..20 mA DC current loop and does not require a separate power supply.

Channel versions

Versions are available with 1, 2 or 3 channels. Unused outputs must be shorted by a link according to the connection note.

Current signal isolation

Input and output use 0(4)..20 mA DC. The output current follows the input current up to the specified maximum input current.

Electrical separation

Input and output are separated with 3 kV DC test voltage. The rated voltage is 630 V AC, pollution degree 2, overvoltage category 2.

Load and response

The output supports a load below 1200 Ω at I ≤ 20 mA and provides a rise time below 30 ms.

DIN rail housing

The standard polycarbonate case mounts on TH35/TS35 DIN rails and uses screw terminals with pressure plate.
