Power feed signal converter for Ex-area field signals, handling 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC inputs and outputs with approx. 20 V DC transmitter supply, ATEX approval and DIN rail mounting.

Introduction

Reliable signal separation is critical when field signals leave an intrinsically safe area. ST500Ex isolates and converts standard 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC signals while providing a fully floating isolated transmitter supply for connected field devices.
 
The device supports active 2-wire and 3-wire sensors in Ex applications, with approx. 20 V DC transmitter supply and short-circuit current below 24 mA. Switch-selectable input and output ranges make adaptation straightforward, while simultaneous current and voltage outputs help integrate the signal into existing control systems.
 
Designed for control cabinet installation, the compact DIN rail case fits TS35 mounting and weighs approx. 200 g. ATEX approval for intrinsically safe circuits, case IP30 and IP20 terminals support reliable use in dry, clean and well monitored areas.

Features

Selectable signal ranges

The device accepts 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC input signals. Output ranges are also selectable for 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC.

Integrated transmitter supply

ST500Ex provides a fully floating isolated transmitter supply for connected active sensors. The supply is approx. 20 V DC with Ri approx. 300 Ω.

Analog outputs

Current and voltage outputs are available for connection to downstream systems. The voltage output is short-circuit-proof and can operate in parallel with the current output.

Front-panel adjustment

Span and start value for 4 mA/2 V can be adjusted by approx. ± 20 %, supporting signal adaptation during setup.

DIN rail housing

The polycarbonate DIN rail case is designed for TS35 mounting and uses screw terminals for wires up to 2.5 mm².
