Temperature measuring transducer

TC125M

Temperature measuring transducer for Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouples J, K and S, converting values to 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V with 3-way isolation, trim adjustment and optional intrinsically safe inputs.

Introduction

Grounded sensors, Ex-area signals and interference-sensitive installations need dependable signal isolation. This temperature measuring transducer converts Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouple J, K or S signals into standard 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V outputs, with 3-way galvanic isolation between input, output and auxiliary voltage.

Eight preconfigured measuring ranges are available for each sensor type and can be selected via front DIP switches. Zero point and span are adjusted with front 12-turn trim potentiometers, helping adapt the output to the application. For thermocouples, internal cold junction compensation can be activated or deactivated.

The TC125 supports simultaneous current and voltage outputs, wide-range or 24 V DC supply versions, and optional auxiliary supply via DIN rail bus. Versions with intrinsically safe inputs allow connection to sensors from Ex areas, with type of protection 'ia' for Zone 0/20 when installed outside the Ex area.

Features

Universal temperature input

The input supports Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouples Type J, K and S. Thermocouple cold junction compensation can be activated or deactivated.

Preconfigured ranges

Each sensor type provides eight selectable measuring ranges. The measuring range is configured with DIP switches on the device front.

Trim adjustment

Two front 12-turn trim potentiometers adjust the zero point and end value within the defined detection range.

Analog output configuration

 DIP switch 6 selects between 0..20 mA / 0..10 V and 4..20 mA / 2..10 V output behavior.

Sensor fault monitoring

The device monitors sensor break for all supported sensors and short circuit for Pt100 and Pt1000 inputs.

Error output behavior

Standard devices drive outputs to 0 mA and 0 V in the event of an error. Option 02 provides upscaling to >21 mA and >10.5 V.

Power supply versions

Versions are available for 24 V DC, 24 V DC with Power Rail supply, or wide-range supply of 20..125 V DC / 85..250 V AC.

DIN rail housing

The 12.5 x 114 x 108 mm PA6.6 housing mounts on DIN rail and uses removable coded screw terminals or optional push-in terminals.
