Exposed aviation and offshore sites need weather data they can trust when rain, spray, dust, and wind make conditions difficult. The compact open-head design keeps the sample volume well ventilated, while hard coat anodised aluminium construction supports long service life in harsh environments.
Forward scatter measurement reports Meteorological Optical Range (MOR) and Extinction Coefficient (EXCO) from 10 m to 99.99 km, with calibration traceable to a national weather service transmissometer in accordance with ICAO 9328. A dedicated backscatter receiver improves separation of liquid and frozen precipitation, supporting reliable WMO Table 4680 and METAR present weather codes.
Maintenance stays manageable across remote sites. Automatic window contamination monitoring gives two-stage cleaning warnings, window heaters are fitted as standard, and optional hood heating helps in demanding weather. RS-232 is standard, RS-422/RS-485 is optional, and the ALS-2 interface can append ambient light data for RVR applications.
Reports forward scatter visibility as Meteorological Optical Range and Extinction Coefficient for operational monitoring.
Outputs visibility with WMO Table 4680 and METAR present weather codes for aviation, marine and national networks.
Uses an additional backscatter receiver with particle intensity and transit time to determine precipitation type.
Provides RS-232 as standard, with RS-422/RS-485 available as a data output option.
Supports an optional ALS-2 Ambient Light Sensor interface that appends ambient light data for RVR use.
Includes automatic monitoring on transmitter windows, with an optional receiver window monitoring version.
Window heaters are fitted as standard, and hood heating is available as an option.
Supports 12 Vdc, 24 Vdc, 120 Vac or 240 Vac power supply configurations.
