Visibility sensor for weather monitoring and observation networks

VPF-710

Visibility sensor for weather monitoring, measuring atmospheric visibility with serial RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 outputs, compact installation, supplied cables and optional ambient light sensor connection.

Introduction

Reliable visibility data supports safer decisions in weather monitoring, transport infrastructure, and observation networks. This compact sensor focuses on visibility measurement and gives system integrators a practical route into the VPF platform, with serial outputs for connection to a wide range of data collection and processing units.

Installation is straightforward for field sites, helped by a light weight, small footprint, and supplied power and data cables. The sensor supports RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 serial communication, allowing the interface to match site conditions and cable run requirements. For higher electrical noise environments, RS-422 is recommended in the source material.

Operational confidence is supported by self-test functions and field configuration via direct commands or Sensor Interface Software. An optional ambient light sensor can append luminance values from 2 to 40,000 cd.m-2 to the data string, supporting applications that need visibility and background light information from the same monitoring point.

Focused visibility
Measures visibility as the dedicated VPF-700 visibility model.
Flexible serial data
Connects via RS-232, RS-422 or RS-485 serial outputs.
Simple installation
Light weight and small footprint support field mounting.
Supplied cabling
Standard power and data cables are supplied in 6 m length.
Light data option
Optional ambient light sensor reports 2 to 40,000 cd.m-2.
Built-in confidence
Self-test routines support reliable sensor operation.
