Standard counter for totalizing and preselect counting with 0 ... 999999 digit range, 30 Hz contact input, 15 kHz electronic input, zero-voltage safe count storage and up to 4 relay or transistor outputs.

Introduction

Counting tasks in machines and control panels need clear values and dependable switching at the right point. SZ9648 operates as a totalizing counter or preselect counter with up-counting function, covering applications with mechanical contacts, proximity switches, light barriers and other electronic pulse sources.
 
Separate inputs support debounced contact counting up to 30 Hz and electronic pulses up to 15 kHz. The count value is stored zero-voltage safe in EEPROM, helping preserve process status after power loss. Integrated 24 V DC and 8 V DC transmitter supply enables direct connection of PNP sensors and Namur initiators.
 
For control tasks, up to 4 preselect outputs are available as relay or transistor versions. Outputs can operate as continuous contact or pulse contact, while auto-reset allows ring-counter operation when the A1 setpoint is reached. The DIN 96x48 mm panel case with front IP65 protection is built for front-panel installation.

Features

Counter modes

The device operates as a totalizing counter across the full range or as a preselect counter with ring-counter function using auto-reset at output A1.

Counting inputs

Separate inputs are provided for mechanical contacts and electronic pulse signals. Input A is debounced for contact operation, and input B supports fast DC pulses.

Sensor connection

The transmitter supply can be selected for 24 V DC PNP sensors or 8 V DC Namur sensors. The inputs also support proximity switches, light barriers and rotary encoders.

Preselect outputs

Outputs A1 to A4 can be configured as continuous contact or pulse contact. Relay SPDT and transistor output variants are available through the ordering code.

Reset and control inputs

The counter can be reset by an external signal. Additional control inputs are available depending on the terminal strip A variant.

Front keypad programming

Parameters and setpoints are programmed via the front membrane keypad, with a 2-digit red display used for parameter and output indication.

Supply variants

Supply voltage options include 230 V AC, 115 V AC, 24 V AC and 24 V DC, selected through the ordering code

Parameter lock

 Configuration can be protected by locking the configuration level or all parameters.
