Ex temperature guard

TG50EX

Ex temperature guard for intrinsically safe Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouple J, K, N and S monitoring, with 2 SPDT alarm outputs, optional isolated analog output and peak value display.

Introduction

Temperature probes installed in hazardous areas need monitoring that keeps the Ex input safely separated from the control system. This temperature guard provides intrinsically safe inputs for direct connection of Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouples J, K, N and S installed in explosion endangered areas.

Two SPDT alarm outputs support min. or max. temperature monitoring, with switch-on and switch-off delay times programmable from 1 s up to 9 h. An optional isolated analog output provides 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC and changes automatically depending on the connected burden.

The 128 x 64 pixel graphic LCD display with white backlighting supports clear local operation. Minimum and maximum measured temperatures are stored in the background and can be called up at any time. Fault monitoring covers broken wire for RTD and thermocouples, plus short circuit for Pt100/Pt1000.

Features

Intrinsically safe inputs

The device provides intrinsically safe inputs for Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouples J, K, N and S installed in explosion endangered areas.

Alarm output configuration

The two SPDT alarm outputs can be programmed as min. or max. functions, with switch-on and switch-off delay from 1 s up to 9 h.

Analog output option

The optional isolated analog output provides 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC and switches automatically according to the connected burden.

Fault monitoring

The device monitors broken wire for RTD and thermocouple inputs, and short circuit for Pt100 and Pt1000 inputs.

Programmable fault behavior

In a fault case, the analog output can be programmed to 0 mA, < 3.6 mA or >21.5 mA, while alarm relays can follow min. or max. function.

Peak value memory

Programming is carried out with front buttons in connection with the graphic LCD display.

Peak value memory

Minimum and maximum measured temperatures are stored in the background and can be read from the display.

DIN rail housing

The PA6.6 housing mounts on TS35/TH35 rail and uses screw terminals from 0.14..2.5 mm².
