Larger collector area helps monitoring stations capture rainfall with a robust measuring point. RTD04 provides a 400 cm² tipping bucket rain gauge for meteorological and environmental applications, designed according to WMO-No. 8 recommendations.
Rain is guided from the aluminum collector cone into a calibrated tipping bucket. Each bucket tip generates an electrical pulse that can be counted by a logger or pulse counter. With 0.1, 0.2 or 0.5 mm/tip resolution options and maximum rainfall rates up to 600 mm/h or 1000 mm/h depending on resolution, RTD04 suits demanding rain monitoring tasks.
The corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy body, ingress protection (IP65), removable inlet filter and non-stick collector cone support dependable outdoor operation with practical maintenance. Heated models operate from -25…+70 °C and use automatic heating around +4 °C to help prevent snow deposits and ice formation.
Rainwater from the collector cone flows into a calibrated bucket. Each tip empties the bucket and generates an electrical pulse for counting rainfall.
The series includes voltage-free NC contact, RS485, SDI-12, MOSFET Open Drain, 4…20 mA and 0…10 V versions, depending on the selected model.
Digital and analog models include temperature, humidity, pressure and tilt sensors for monitoring instrument and environmental conditions.
Heated versions use a 24 Vdc ± 10% heater supply with 110 W heater consumption. Digital and analog models use PID control.
The rain gauge mounts on a Ø40…60 mm mast and includes an integrated bubble level for correct alignment of the tipping mechanism.
A removable filter in the collector inlet helps prevent clogging and supports periodic cleaning of the rain path.
