Reliable level data starts with a sensor that can work where optical or ultrasonic principles reach their limits. Radarcont® RP4SR measures liquid levels, volume and distance without contact, making it well suited for tanks, open channels, measuring weirs, water and waste water applications, environmental technology and process industry use.
The 122...123 GHz pulsed FMCW radar signal supports continuous measurement up to 10 m and uses a narrow 10° beam angle to reduce interference from internal structures or foreign objects. It can measure liquids even with gas stratification, such as ammonia, or foaming, and can also measure through container walls such as IPC containers or through PTFE or PP protection windows, depending on the application.
For integration into automation and monitoring systems, the sensor offers IO-Link® V1.1 with 0/4…20 mA and switching outputs, or RS485 Modbus-RTU. Characteristic deviation is ≤±0.1% FSI, with ingress protection (IP65/IP67), -20 °C …+70 °C process temperature range, temperature compensation and integrated overvoltage protection.
The sensor emits a pulsed FMCW radar signal and calculates distance from the reflected signal delay and frequency difference.
The measured distance to the liquid surface can be converted into level or volume values and linearized where required.
The product is available with RS485 Modbus-RTU or with IO-Link®, current 0/4…20 mA and push-pull switching outputs.
The electronics function can include temperature measurement for -20 °C …+70 °C applications.
The sensor uses a DIN 13 M30x1.5 thread process connection for installation in the application.
Non-process-contacting materials are PE-HD, POM, PA and FPM.
Cable versions include PE cable without confection, confectioned wires or Hydrolog HLF4 confection.
Operation and parameterization can be carried out via the SmartConnect App or the wired interface.
