Ex temperature transmitter for Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouples J, K, N and S, with intrinsically safe input, programmable range, 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC output and 32-point linearization.

Introduction

Temperature signals from hazardous-area sensors need safe separation and reliable conditioning before they reach the control cabinet. This programmable Ex temperature transmitter accepts intrinsically safe Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouple J, K, N and S inputs, converting them into isolated 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC output signals.
 
The measuring range is programmable, and sensor curves can be linearized or transformed with up to 32 configurable base points. Teach In stores input values for start and end points or curve points automatically, while the simulator function helps check behavior during commissioning.
 
Versions with two SPDT relay alarm outputs are available for monitoring and control. Automatic input fault detection monitors broken lines for Pt100, Pt1000 and thermocouples, plus short circuits for Pt100 and Pt1000. Fault behavior can be set to 0 mA, < 3.6 mA or > 21.5 mA.

Features

Intrinsically safe input

The input is designed for signals from the endangered area and carries ATEX marking II (1) G [Ex ia] IIC/IIB or II (1) D [Ex iaD].

Temperature input

Model 3 accepts Pt100 and Pt1000 in 3-wire connection, plus thermocouples Type J, K, N and S.

Configureable measuring range

The measuring range can be configured for the connected RTD or thermocouple input and assigned to the analog output.

Analog output

The isolated output provides 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC and changes automatically depending on the connected burden.

Characteristic curve setup

Linear and nonlinear curves can be configured with value pairs, using up to 32 base points for sensor curve adaptation.

Teach In function

 Input signals for start and end values, or characteristic curve points, can be stored automatically during setup.

Alarm output configuration

Optional relay alarm outputs can be programmed as min. or max. functions, with switch-on and switch-off delay from 1 s up to 9 h.

LCD operation

Programming is carried out via front buttons in connection with a 128 x 64 pixel graphic LCD display with white backlighting.
