Introduction

Surface reflectance measurements become clearer when incident and reflected solar radiation are captured together. This albedometer combines two independent thermopile pyranometers, one facing upward and one downward, to determine albedo and net solar radiation in climatology, Automatic Weather Stations, agriculture and environmental research.
 
The Spectrally Flat Class C sensors follow ISO 9060:2018 and meet WMO recommendations. A 200…4000 W/m2 measuring range, 300…2800 nm spectral range and factory calibration according to ISO 9847:2023 provide a reliable basis for routine solar radiation monitoring.
 
Field use stays simple and power-free. The passive mV output connects directly to a suitable reading instrument or data logger via two 5-pole M12 connectors. Ingress protection (IP) 67, anodized aluminum housing, ASA screen and optical glass domes support outdoor operation, while the integrated bubble level helps achieve accurate horizontal positioning during installation.

Features

Dual sensor layout

The instrument uses one upward-facing LPS030P0 pyranometer for global solar radiation and one downward-facing LPS030P0 pyranometer for reflected solar radiation.

Thermopile measurement

Each pyranometer uses a thermopile sensor with a black matt coated sensitive surface and passive mV output.

Independent connections

Two 5-pole M12 connectors provide separate outputs for the upper and lower pyranometers.

Passive output principle

The albedometer does not require power supply. Irradiance is calculated from the measured voltage and the sensitivity shown on the sensor label and calibration report.

Installation arrangement

The support rod is fixed to a vertical mast using a cross clamp. The integrated bubble level is used for horizontal positioning.

Moisture control

Silica-gel is inserted inside the pyranometer bases to absorb moisture and help prevent condensation on the internal side of the dome.
