Photometric probe for outdoor illuminance measurement

LPPHOT03

Photometric probe for outdoor illuminance measurement up to 150 klux with mV, 4…20 mA or 0…10 V output, or up to 200 klux with RS485 Modbus-RTU, V(λ) spectral response and cosine correction.

Introduction

Outdoor light measurement needs a probe that follows visual perception and keeps readings stable under changing sky conditions. LPPHOT03 measures illuminance in lux with a spectral response matched to the standard photopic curve V(λ), making it suited to photometric monitoring where daylight or artificial light levels must be quantified.

Each probe is individually calibrated, with the calibration factor shown on the housing for mV versions. The diffuser provides cosine correction, while the protection dome supports outdoor readings. The BL versions add a base with levelling device to help position the sensing surface correctly.

System integration is available from simple passive measurement to networked acquisition. Standard LPPHOT03 versions provide mV/klux output without power supply. BLAC and BLAV versions offer normalized 4…20 mA or 0…10 Vdc outputs scaled 0…150 klux, while LPPHOT03BLS provides RS485 Modbus-RTU output over 0…200 klux.

Photopic response
V(λ) spectral response supports illuminance measurement aligned with human vision.
Outdoor-ready design
Diffuser, protection dome and cosine correction support outdoor light readings.
Output flexibility
Choose mV, 4…20 mA, 0…10 Vdc or RS485 Modbus-RTU depending on system needs.
Wide light range
Normalized outputs cover 0…150 klux; RS485 version covers 0…200 klux.

Features

Illuminance measurement

The probe measures illuminance in lux, defined as luminous flux passing through a surface divided by the surface area.

Passive mV output

mV versions require no power supply. The photocurrent from the photodiode is converted into a potential difference read by a voltmeter.

Normalized outputs

LPPHOT03BLAC provides 4…20 mA output and LPPHOT03BLAV provides 0…10 Vdc output, both scaled from 0 to 150 klux.

RS485 Modbus-RTU

LPPHOT03BLS provides RS485 Modbus-RTU output with selectable 0…20,000 lux low range or 0…200,000 lux high range.

Calibration basis

Calibration is carried out by comparison with a reference luxmeter calibrated by a Primary Metrological Laboratory.

Connection options

Versions use M12 connectors, with 4-pole cables for mV and analog outputs and 8-pole cables for RS485 Modbus-RTU versions.
