Introduction

Hazardous-area tank installations need level measurement that fits the protection concept of the site as well as the measuring task. This family is explosion-proof certified for use where flammable products are treated, with certification listed as CESI 03 ATEX 272 Ext.2 1/2G Exdb IIC T5/T6 G2/Gb.
 
The potentiometric measuring principle uses a magnetic float to gradually actuate a chain of resistors and reed contacts inside the measuring rod. With the float as the moving element, the sensor provides reliable continuous level control for liquid tanks, including outdoor and underground installations described in the source.
 
Configuration options support practical integration into process systems. The family offers 5, 10 or 20 mm measuring resolution, potentiometric LC or 4-20mA LCT output, lengths up to 6 m depending on float, maximum working pressure of 10 Bar, standard working temperature up to 100°C and IP67 protection.

Built-in temperature sensor

For LC type only, a temperature sensor can be installed at the bottom of the rod on request, with PT100, PT1000, PTC or NTC options.

Blocking joint requirement

Exd certified level controls must be connected by interposing the appropriate blocking joints according to EN 50018.
