Wood and construction moisture meter for non-destructive testing

GMK 100

Wood and construction moisture meter for moisture and water content in wood, concrete, screed and plaster, with %u or %w display, 10 mm and 25 mm measuring depths, visual/acoustic rating and backlight.

Introduction

Moisture checks in wood and building materials become easier when readings can be taken without damaging the surface. This capacitive handheld meter measures through the rear measuring plate and displays either material moisture %u or water content %w, helping users assess wood, concrete, screed, plaster and similar materials directly on site.

Two selectable measuring depths, 10 mm and 25 mm, support practical evaluation of surface moisture and deeper material conditions. With 18 characteristic curves for wood and common building materials, plus a reference curve for relative measurements, the device adapts to everyday craft, inspection and building tasks.

Clear readings are supported by two displays, a 6-level visual moisture rating from WET to DRY and an acoustic signal. The hold function and backlight make measurements easier in difficult positions, while the impact-resistant ABS housing and battery operation suit regular field use.

Non-destructive
Rear capacitive measuring plate checks moisture without damaging flat material surfaces.
Two depths
Select 10 mm or 25 mm depth to assess surface moisture or deeper material conditions.
Material flexibility
18 curves cover wood and common building materials, plus rEF for relative checks.
Clear rating
6-level WET to DRY display and acoustic signal make moisture evaluation quick.
Easy field use
Hold function and backlight support measurements in difficult positions.
Long battery life
9 V battery operation provides up to 2000 h use without backlight.

Features

Capacitive measuring principle

The device measures material moisture with a dielectric field from the rear measuring plate. The full rear surface must lie flat on the material for correct measurements.

Selectable display unit

The display can show material moisture %u, related to dry mass, or water content %w, related to total wet mass, depending on the application.

Material characteristic curves

Stored curves support measurements in wood, concrete, cement screed, anhydrite screed, gypsum plaster and lime cement plaster. A wood species table helps select the matching wood curve.

Reference measurement mode

The rEF characteristic provides high-resolution relative readings for materials without stored curves, such as when comparing dry and wet areas after water damage.

Display and controls

Two displays show the selected characteristic curve and measured value. Buttons provide material selection, hold function, zeroing and configuration.

Configurable operation

Auto power-off, display unit, backlight behavior and acoustic signal can be configured directly on the device.

Adjustment check

Accuracy can be checked with the optional PW25 test cube, with slope correction available for both measuring depths.
