Active-power transmitter

WM500

Active power transmitter for symmetric 1- and 3-phase systems, with 1 A or 5 A current ranges, 45 ... 400 Hz frequency range, selectable cosφ 0.72 or 1 and 0/4 ... 20 mA or 0/2 ... 10 V output.

Introduction

Active power in motor drives and phase-angle controlled equipment needs a signal that process control systems can use directly. WM500 converts active power from symmetric 1- and 3-phase power supply systems into proportional standard analog signals.

The transmitter supports 1 A or 5 A current input ranges and voltage inputs up to 440 V, with a 45 ... 400 Hz frequency range. Devices without compensating circuits measure active power where voltage curve shape is insignificant, including frequency inverter-controlled electric motor drives. For 3-phase sinusoidal voltage, the compensating circuit version nearly eliminates additional error caused by deviations between line and nominal voltage.

Selectable 0/4 ... 20 mA or 0/2 ... 10 V outputs simplify integration into automation systems. Full 3-port isolation, < 0.2 % accuracy and a compact 22.5 mm polycarbonate case for TH35 DIN rail mounting support dependable use in industrial control cabinets.

Features

Power system selection

The transmitter is available for symmetric 1-phase or 3-phase power supply systems, with ordering variants for common measuring voltages.

Current and voltage inputs

Current input is available as 0 ... 1 A or 0 ... 5 A. Voltage input covers 0 ... 440 V and supports connection via direct access or transformers.

Compensating circuit models

Models are available without a compensating circuit or with an integrated compensating circuit for sinusoidal 3-phase voltage applications.

Output configuration

Output is selected as 0/4 ... 20 mA or 0/2 ... 10 V. A link between terminals 8 and 9 configures voltage-to-current output operation.

Power factor setting

The power factor cosφ is switch selectable between 0.72 and 1, using the front-panel control.

Final value adjustment

The final value can be adjusted from -30 ... 5 %, allowing the configured measuring range to be matched to the application.

Supply options

Supply voltage variants include 230 V AC ± 10 % and 24 V DC ± 15 %, depending on the selected ordering code.
