Flow transmitter for viscous liquids and oils

VHZ

Flow transmitter for viscous liquids and oils, covering 0.02 ... 150 l/min in DN 8 ... DN 25 sizes. Volumetric gear measurement with push-pull, A/B or 2-wire output and ingress protection (IP65).

Introduction

Viscous liquids can make flow measurement difficult, especially when the medium is an oil, paste, emulsion or soap-based liquid. This gear flow transmitter is designed for liquid, self-lubricating and non-abrasive media, using a volumetric measuring principle that is nearly independent of viscosity.

The measuring ranges cover 0.02 ... 150 l/min, with nominal sizes from DN 8 to DN 25 and female threads from G 1/4 to G 1. This gives users a practical choice across compact dosing, lubrication and process flow tasks where a cost-sensitive device is required.

Installation is straightforward in pipe systems: the device can be mounted in any position, the flow direction is freely selectable and no inlet run is required. Output options include push-pull, A/B for flow direction detection, and 2-wire pulse output with reduced wiring effort.

Features

Volumetric gear principle

A pair of gears moves in proportion to the flow rate. The sensor detects this movement through the closed housing wall.

Media compatibility

The device measures viscous, liquid and self-lubricating media, as well as water-containing liquids such as soaps, pastes and emulsions with non-abrasive character.

Output variants

Available output types include push-pull transistor output, A/B output with two phase-shifted push-pull signals, and 2-wire pulse output.

Electrical connection

Connection options include DIN 43650-A / ISO 4400 plug or a 4-pin M12x1 circular connector. The A/B output requires the 4-pin circular connector.

Housing and materials

Variants are available with aluminum or stainless steel housing. Media-contacting materials include stainless steel, FKM and Iglidur X depending on version.

Mounting

The flow transmitter can be installed in any orientation in the pipe system. A 30 µm filter may be used upstream to protect the gears from dirt particles.
