Digital switching signals from hazardous areas need controlled separation before they enter the automation system. TS500-Ex monitors and controls these signals through an intrinsically safe input, while the device itself is installed outside the Ex area.
The input accepts switching contacts, Namur proximity switches according to DIN EN 60947-5-6 and passive electronic outputs from other devices. For Namur sensors, line fault detection can be activated by DIP-switch to detect broken and shorted lines; with switch contacts, external resistors are required for this function.
Output versions with relay SPDT contact or voltage-free transistor output make the device easy to match to the control task. The 22.5 mm DIN rail housing, front-panel LEDs and DIP-switch operating mode selection support practical cabinet installation and clear local diagnostics.

The relationship between input and output can be selected by DIP-switches on the front panel for open-circuit or close-circuit working.
Monitoring for broken and shorted lines can be activated by DIP-switch when using Namur proximity switches. External resistors are necessary when using switching contacts.
Relay variants provide SPDT contacts with switching capacity below 253 V AC, 100 VA and 2 A, or below 100 V DC, 50 W and 2 A.
Transistor variants provide passive, voltage-free outputs rated up to 35 V DC and 50 mA, with short-circuit protection.
The standard polycarbonate case is 22.5 mm wide, weighs approx. 200 g and mounts on TS35 DIN rails with screw terminals up to 2.5 mm².
