Level switch for ATEX hazardous-area tank control (stainless steel)

MULTIPOINT L - S ATEX E

Level switch for hazardous-area tank control in AISI 316, certified CESI 03 ATEX 272 Ext.2, with up to 6 switch points, 6 m length, 50 bar working pressure and IP67 protection.

Introduction

Tank level control in hazardous areas calls for certified switching with a construction suited to demanding media and installations. This instrument is used to control liquids or fuel in underground and outdoor tanks where flammable products are treated. It is certified CESI 03 ATEX 272 Ext.2 II 1/2G Exdb IIC T5/T6 Ga/Gb and provides a minimum ingress protection (IP) rating of IP67.

The AISI 316 stainless steel design uses one or more floats to actuate magnetic reed contacts inside the measuring rod. The float moves by buoyancy and remains the only moving element, supporting robust operation with limited maintenance.

The range covers up to 6 switch points, rod lengths up to 6 m and maximum working pressure of 50 bar. Standard working temperature reaches up to 100°C, with executions up to 160°C available on request. IP66/67 housings are available in epoxy-painted aluminum or AISI 316 stainless steel.

Features

Magnetic reed principle

One or more floats actuate reed contacts placed inside the AISI 316 measuring rod. Contact types include SPST and SPDT versions.

Float selection

Float options include S29, S32, S41 and S52 types, with defined specific gravity, contact type, pressure rating and temperature class.

Process connections

External installation is supported with threaded and flanged connections. Thread options include UNI 228/1, UNI 7/1 and NPT.

Electrical output housings

E1 and E3 outputs use IP66/67 housings in epoxy-painted aluminum or AISI 316 stainless steel, with up to 18 terminals.

Wiring configurations

Contacts can be wired independently, with a common connection or according to request. NO, NC and SPDT contact status options are listed.

Switch point definition

Switch points L1 \div L6 are measured from the axis of the fitting or flange connection, with general tolerances of +/- 3 mm.

Temperature sensor option

A sensor can be installed at the bottom of the rod on request. Options include PT100, PT1000, PTC, NTC and TRP thermoprotector versions.
