Monitoring relay

MR50EX

Monitoring relay for intrinsically safe analog signals, with 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC inputs, programmable measuring range, 2 SPDT alarm outputs, 16 V DC transmitter supply and optional isolated analog output.

Introduction

Limit monitoring in hazardous-area signal chains needs clear information and certified input separation. MR50Ex monitors intrinsically safe 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC signals from sensors in explosion-endangered areas and displays the measured value with the programmed unit on a graphic LCD.

The measuring range is programmable, with installed units such as mV, V, mA, °C, bar, %, l/min, m³/h and ppm, plus custom units. Two SPDT alarm outputs can be configured as min. or max. functions, with switch-on and switch-off delay times from 1 s up to 9 h. Minimum and maximum peak values are stored in the background and can be read from the display.

For direct loop-powered sensor connection, the device provides an integrated intrinsically safe transmitter supply of approx. 16 V DC up to 20 mA. An optional fully isolated analog output delivers 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC, while wire break monitoring supports programmable fault behavior for analog and alarm outputs.

Features

Intrinsically safe inputs

The input accepts 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC signals and is approved under TÜV 08 ATEX 554329.

Configureable measuring range

The display range and engineering unit are set using the front buttons and LCD menu.

Alarm output setup

Alarm outputs A1 and A2 can be programmed as minimum or maximum functions with adjustable switching delays.

Fault monitoring

Wire break in the measuring circuit can be monitored, with programmable analog output and alarm contact behavior.

Optional analog output

The isolated analog output provides 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC and changes automatically depending on burden impedance.

DIN rail housing

The PA6.6 housing mounts on TS 35 DIN rail and uses screw terminals for 0.14 ... 2.5 mm² conductors.
