Introduction

Complete radiation balance monitoring needs more than a single surface reading. LPNET14 captures the four components of net irradiance: global and reflected solar irradiance, plus infrared radiation from the sky and the ground. This gives meteorological and environmental monitoring teams detailed data across 0.3...45 µm.
 
Two pyranometers measure solar radiation, while two pyrgeometers measure infrared radiation. The integrated NTC temperature sensor supports compensation of the pyrgeometer measurement, and factory calibration with a calibration report helps teams start with traceable sensor data from commissioning.
 
Designed for outdoor use in all weather conditions, the instrument combines anodized aluminium construction with optical glass pyranometer domes, silicon pyrgeometer windows and ingress protection (IP) IP65. The passive design needs no power supply and connects through two 8-pole M12 connectors to a voltmeter or data logger with 1 µV recommended resolution.

Features

Four-component design

The instrument combines two pyranometers for global and reflected irradiance with two pyrgeometers for infrared radiation from the sky and earth.

Pyranometer measurement

The pyranometers use black matt thermopile surfaces and optical glass domes to measure solar radiation over 300...2800 nm (50%).

Pyrgeometer measurement

The pyrgeometers use thermopile sensors protected by silicon discs with scratch-resistant DLC coating for the 5.5...45 \mu{}m spectral range.

Temperature sensing

The internal NTC temperature sensor provides the pyrgeometer temperature needed for infrared irradiance calculation.

M12 electrical connection

Two 8-pole M12 connectors separate pyranometer and pyrgeometer signals. The sensor output is typically a few mV.

Installation alignment

The fixing shaft supports horizontal alignment on the pole, while the installation position should avoid shadows and nearby obstructions.

Maintenance system

The lower compartment holds silica-gel cartridges to absorb humidity, with a marker to indicate when desiccant replacement is needed.
