Variable area flow meter for water and gas lines

GKL

Variable area flow meter for water and gas lines, with DN 25..50 sizes, water ranges from 20 – 250 l/h to 1 – 10 m³/h, air ranges from 0.4 – 4 to 20 – 250 Nm³/h, a clear scale and optional reed switch.

Introduction

Reliable flow checks start with a clear reading at the pipe. A transparent, conical measuring tube shows the float position directly on a large scale, with a setpoint indicator for quick visual comparison. The family measures water and gases in vertical flow from below, with ranges from 20 – 250 l/h up to 1 – 10 m³/h for water and 0.4 – 4 to 20 – 250 Nm³/h for air.

Operators can select the connection and wetted materials to match the line. Malleable cast iron Rp internal threads cover DN 25...50; PVC adhesive socket versions cover Ø32...63. Depending on the version, wetted materials include PA 6-3-T, FPM, PP or 1.4571 stainless steel floats, with PSU measuring tubes as an option.

Optional reed switches support limit monitoring, while accessory transmitters provide 0...10 kOhm or 4...20 mA outputs. Cast iron versions are rated up to 15 bar at 25 °C and PVC versions up to 10 bar at 25 °C. Straight calming sections of 5 x DN help create the required installation conditions.

Features

Variable area principle

A float moves in a transparent, tapered measuring tube according to the volume flow. Its position indicates the flow rate directly on the scaled tube.

Connection versions

The family includes malleable cast iron connections with Rp internal threads and PVC connections with adhesive sockets in nominal sizes DN 25, DN 32, DN 40 and DN 50.

Float and tube materials

Media-contacting materials include PA 6-3-T, FPM and either malleable cast iron or PVC. Floats are available in PP or 1.4571 stainless steel, with PSU measuring tubes as an option.

Media scaling

Standard tables cover water and air. Air ranges are specified for vertical flow from below at 20 °C and 1013 mbar.

Installation requirements

The device is installed for vertical flow from below. The source specifies straight calming sections of 5 x DN at inlet and outlet, and filters for contaminated media.

Accessory transmitters

GKK-1270 provides a 0...10 kOhm transmitter function, and GKI-1272 provides a 4...20 mA transmitter function as accessories.
