Non-contact measurement is a strong choice where the sensor should stay out of the medium and still deliver dependable level data. Sonicont USG2 measures levels continuously in liquids, pastes and coarse bulk solids, and also supports volume measurement and flow measurement at open channels and weirs.
The sensor covers measuring ranges from 2 m to 25 m and is suited for water and wastewater, environmental technology, process industry, storage tanks, bunkers and silos. An integrated temperature sensor supports runtime correction, helping the associated level indicator compensate for temperature-related changes in the speed of sound.
Robust materials and a sealed design support use in demanding environments. PVDF process-wetted parts provide high chemical resistance, while the sensor surface has a self-cleaning effect that reduces build-up. Depending on the electrical connection, protection reaches ingress protection (IP65/IP68) or (IP67), and the sensor can be installed up to 300 m away from the level indicator.
The sensor sends ultrasonic pulses to the medium surface and receives the reflected echo. The signal runtime is proportional to distance and level.
An integrated temperature sensor sends a temperature signal to the associated level indicator for runtime correction.
The device supports level and volume measurement, plus flow measurement at open channels and measuring weirs.
Versions are available for 2 m, 5 m, 8 m, 15 m and 25 m measuring ranges, with different block distances and working frequencies.
Depending on measuring range, the device uses ISO 228-1 G1½", ISO 228-1 G2" or DIN 13 M32x1.5 threaded connections.
Available connection types include TPE-U cable and TPE-U cable with M12 plug connection, with cable lengths from 5m to 30 m.
An ATEX version is available as ATEX II 1 G Ex ia IIC T6/T5 Ga / ATEX II 1 D Ex ia IIIC T95°C Da.
Additional options include LABS-free and silicone-free version, TAG laser marking, customer label and neutral type plate.
