Standard signal transmitter for intrinsically safe analog inputs, with 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC input, isolated analog output, 32-point linearization, 16 V DC transmitter supply and 2 SPDT alarm outputs.

Introduction

Analog signals from hazardous areas often need conditioning, scaling and isolation before they reach the control system. PMT50Ex-1 converts intrinsically safe 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC inputs into isolated 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC outputs, with ATEX approval for input circuits.
 
The programmable measuring range and 32-point linearization help adapt non-linear sensor behavior to a usable process value. Programming is carried out with front buttons and the graphic LCD, while the Teach In function can store start, end and characteristic curve values automatically when the input signal is present.
 
For monitoring and fault handling, the device offers 2 SPDT relay outputs with min. or max. functions and delay times from 1 s to 9 h. The integrated intrinsically safe 16 V DC transmitter supply powers 2- and 3-wire transmitters up to 20 mA, and wire break detection can set defined analog output and relay behavior.

Features

Intrinsically safe input

The device accepts 0/4..20 mA and 0/2..10 V DC standard signals via the Ex-approved input circuit.

Isolated analog output

The analog output provides 0/4..20 mA or 0/2..10 V DC and changes automatically depending on burden.

Front-panel setup

Parameters are set using front buttons together with the graphic 128 x 64 pixel LCD.

Teach In function

Start value, end value and characteristic curve values can be stored from the applied input signal.

Alarm outputs

Two SPDT relay outputs can be configured for monitoring and controlling as min. or max. functions.

Fault indication

Break of wire in the measuring circuit is detected and can trigger programmable analog output and alarm relay behavior.
