Introduction

Cleanrooms and controlled atmosphere environments depend on continuous visibility of particle concentration. This particle counter transmitter counts and classifies airborne particles by size using the laser scattering principle, supporting cleanroom monitoring as described in ISO 14644 standards.
 
Five particle channels give operators a clear view of contamination behavior across relevant size fractions: > 0.3 µm, > 0.5 µm, > 1 µm, > 2.5 µm and > 5 µm. Continuous operation is the default for real-time monitoring, while cyclic intervals can be configured to extend PM sensor lifetime. In continuous mode, sensor lifetime is > 10,000 hours at 1 meas./s; in 5 minutes cyclic mode, it is approximately 5 years.
 
Integration into monitoring systems is supported by RS485 with Modbus-RTU or ASCII proprietary protocol. Versions with two additional 0/4…20 mA analog outputs allow measured parameters to be assigned independently, and an optional CO2 sensor adds another air quality parameter where required.

Features

Laser scattering principle

The transmitter counts and classifies particles according to their size using laser scattering.

Particle count output

Measurements are provided as number of particles per cubic meter for five defined particle size thresholds.

Operating modes

The measuring circuit operates continuously by default or at user-configurable cyclic intervals.

Measurement averaging

Particle count measurements are available as averages over 10 seconds, 60 seconds or 15 minutes.

Analog output variants

Versions with two 0/4…20 mA outputs are available. Each output can be assigned independently to measured parameters.

Optional CO2 measurement

PMBsenseCR variants integrate a double wavelength NDIR CO2 sensor with a 0…5000 ppm measuring range.
