Class C pyranometer for PV and solar irradiance monitoring

LPPYRA-Lite

Class C pyranometer for PV and solar irradiance monitoring, measuring 0…2000 W/m2 with thermopile sensor and mV, 4…20 mA, RS485 Modbus-RTU or SDI-12 outputs.

Introduction

PV systems and general solar monitoring need dependable irradiance data without a large sensor footprint. This compact thermopile pyranometer measures global irradiance on a flat surface, combining direct solar irradiance and diffuse irradiance across a 0…2000 W/m2 measuring range.

The series is classified as Spectrally Flat Class C according to ISO 9060:2018 and meets WMO Guide requirements. Its 300…2800 nm spectral range, optical glass dome and thermopile sensor support reliable solar radiation measurement, while factory calibration according to ISO 9847:2023 by comparison with a reference pyranometer gives every unit a defined calibration basis.

Integration is flexible for different monitoring architectures. Versions are available with passive mV output, 2-wire 4…20 mA current loop, RS485 Modbus-RTU or SDI-12. The IP 67 anodized aluminum housing, 150 g weight and optional fixing base with levelling device make installation practical on PV panel planes or horizontal monitoring setups.

Features

Thermopile sensor

The pyranometer uses a thermopile sensor with a black matt coating for broadband solar radiation measurement.

Global irradiance measurement

It measures direct and diffuse solar irradiance on a flat surface across a 2π sr viewing angle.

Digital output models

LPPYRA-LiteS provides RS485 Modbus-RTU, while LPPYRA-LiteS12 provides SDI-12 communication.

Analog output models

LPPYRA-Lite provides passive mV output, and LPPYRA-LiteAC provides a 2-wire 4…20 mA current loop.

Mounting accessories

Optional brackets and adapters support mast installation, tilted mounting or horizontal positioning with a levelling device.

Moisture control

Silica-gel inside the pyranometer absorbs moisture to help prevent condensation inside the dome.
