Introduction

Outdoor PAR monitoring needs a probe that can follow changing daylight while giving usable signals for field instruments and automation systems. LPPAR03 measures photosynthetically active radiation as photon flux across the 400 nm...700 nm spectral range, supporting applications where plant-relevant light must be monitored continuously.
 
The probe is individually calibrated with a halogen lamp of known spectral irradiance, and the calibration factor is shown on the probe housing. A diffuser for cosine correction helps capture incident light from different angles, while calibration uncertainty below 5%, cosine response below 3% and linearity below 1% support consistent measurement data.
 
Output options make the probe easy to adapt to different system architectures. Choose the passive µV/(µmol m⁻² s⁻¹) version, or normalized 4...20 mA, 0...10 Vdc and RS485 MODBUS-RTU versions with external power supply. The outdoor design includes a protection dome and M12 connector.

Features

PAR measurement

The probe measures the number of photons striking a surface per second and area in the PAR spectral region.

Output configurations

Versions are available with passive µV output, normalized 4...20 mA, normalized 0...10 Vdc or RS485 MODBUS-RTU output.

Analog scaling

The 4...20 mA version scales 4 mA to 0 µmol m⁻² s⁻¹ and 20 mA to 5000 µmol m⁻² s⁻¹. The 0...10 Vdc version uses the same measuring span.

RS485 communication

The RS485 MODBUS-RTU version provides photon flow in µmol m⁻² s⁻¹ through input registers, together with status and average values.

Outdoor construction

The probe is equipped with a diffuser for cosine correction, a protection dome and an M12 male connector.

Power supply

The passive version requires no power supply. Output versions require 10...30 Vdc for 4...20 mA, 15...30 Vdc for 0...10 Vdc or 5...30 Vdc for RS485 MODBUS-RTU.
