Hazardous-area tanks with liquids or fuels need level control that integrates into an intrinsically safe protection concept. This family is certified for use where flammable products are treated, with certification listed as CESI 03 ATEX 265 Ext.2 II 1/2G Exia IIC T4/T5/T6 Ga/Gb and II 1G Exia IIC T4/T5/T6 Ga.
The potentiometric measuring principle uses a magnetic float to gradually actuate a chain of resistors and reed contacts inside the measuring rod. This provides continuous level control for underground and outdoor tanks, with 5, 10 or 20 mm measuring resolution and lengths up to 6 m depending on the float.
Integration options include potentiometric LC output, 4-20mA LCT output and 0-10V output via safety barrier. Versions cover maximum working pressure up to 10 Bar, standard working temperature up to 100°C, execution up to 120°C on request and minimum ingress protection (IP) rating of IP65.
A magnetic float actuates a chain of resistors and reed contacts placed inside the measuring rod.
Output options include IP65 housing for 2G, IP66/67 housing for 1G, DIN 43650 IP65 connector and cable gland variants.
IP1 uses a brass IP68 cable gland, while IP2 uses a polyamide IP67 cable gland.
Installation from inside is listed for LC with IP1-2, while outside installation uses threaded and flanged process connections.
Male thread options include G parallel UNI 228/1, conical UNI 7/1 and conical NPT.
Exia level controls must be electrically connected to active or passive barriers according to EN 50020.
