Flow transmitter for viscous liquids, gear volumeter

LABOPLUS-VHZ

Flow transmitter for viscous liquid monitoring, measuring oil and lubricating fluids from 0.02...150 l/min with gear volumeter technology, IO-Link and configurable analog or switching outputs.

Introduction

Reliable flow monitoring in oil and lubrication circuits depends on a measuring principle that can handle viscosity without constant compromise. This transmitter family uses a gear volumeter principle for oil and other non-aggressive, lubricating fluids, covering measuring ranges from 0.02...150 l/min in nominal diameters from DN 8...DN 25.

Two intermeshing gears rotate with the flowing medium, while a sensor positioned outside the flow chamber generates pulses for defined measured volumes. The volumetric method keeps viscosity influence low, with use up to 40,000 mm²/s (cSt). With no magnets in the flow chamber and bidirectional operation for most nominal diameters, the device supports dependable monitoring of demanding viscous media.

Integration is straightforward in industrial systems. IO-Link enables configuration and measured value readout, while selectable analog outputs and a configurable push-pull output support control and monitoring tasks. No inlet or outlet sections are required, the connections are pluggable and rotatable, and ingress protection (IP) IP65 / IP67 supports use in typical industrial environments.

Features

Gear volumeter principle

Two intermeshing gears rotate in opposite directions as the medium flows through the device and generate defined measured volumes.

External sensor detection

A sensor positioned outside the flow chamber detects movement and generates a flow-proportional pulse signal.

Directional operation

The device supports bidirectional operation, with flow direction detection and directional totalizing except for DN 8 variants.

Output configuration

The electronics provide selectable current or voltage analog outputs and a push-pull transistor output with configurable functions.

IO-Link communication

IO-Link Revision V1.1.3 supports digital configuration and readout of measured values and further data.

Mechanical variants

The family covers DN 8...DN 25 with G 1/4...G 1 internal threads and aluminum or stainless-steel body versions.

Wetted materials

Wetted parts include aluminum or stainless steel housings, stainless steel gears, Iglidur X bearings and FKM seals.

Electrical connection

Connection is made via a 4-pin M12x1 circular connector with 18...30 V DC supply.
