Tipping bucket rain gauge for rainfall monitoring, heated option

HD2015

Tipping bucket rain gauge for rainfall monitoring with 0.1, 0.2 or 0.5 mm/tip resolution, NC contact output, 200 cm2 collector area, IP 65 protection and optional 12 Vdc or 24 Vdc heating.

Introduction

Reliable rainfall data starts with a rain gauge that keeps working in exposed outdoor conditions. HD2015 measures precipitation with a calibrated tipping bucket and sends each tip as an impulse through a normally closed reed contact, ready for recording by a data logger or pulse counter.

Built for environmental monitoring, the instrument uses corrosion resistant materials, a 200 cm2 collector area and ingress protection (IP) 65 housing. The collector cone guides water into the bucket and has a non-stick coating for better flow, while a removable filter helps prevent leaves or debris from blocking the outlet.

For colder sites, heated versions support operation down to -20 °C and activate heating around +4 °C to help prevent snow deposits and ice formation. Model options cover 0.1, 0.2 or 0.5 mm/tip resolution, with maximum rainfall rates up to 600 mm/h or 1000 mm/h depending on the version.

Weather-ready build
Corrosion resistant materials and IP 65 housing support long-term outdoor rainfall monitoring.
Cold-site option
Heated versions work from -20…+70 °C and activate heating around +4 °C.
Clear pulse output
NC reed contact opens during tipping for logging by a data logger or pulse counter.
Flexible resolution
Choose 0.1, 0.2 or 0.5 mm/tip resolution to match the monitoring task.

Features

Tipping bucket principle

The collector cone channels rainwater into a calibrated bucket. Once the set level is reached, the bucket tips, discharges the water and generates a pulse.

Rainfall rate correction

Measurement can be corrected using rainfall-rate correction curves when pulse timing is logged. With the HD2013-DB data logger, correction can be applied automatically.

Heating versions

Heated models operate with 12 Vdc or 24 Vdc power supply, depending on the version, and use a 75 W heating circuit.

Installation options

The rain gauge is supplied for ground installation with three height-adjustable support feet. Raised installation on a mast is possible with the optional ACCR001 support.

Maintenance access

A removable filter sits in the collector cone for periodic cleaning, and the cone surface is treated with a non-stick coating.
