Connected Data Collection Across Industrial Sites

Self-powered IoT solutions connect distributed systems to the internet without requiring a separate local infrastructure for every measuring point. Data loggers can read sensors using common standard signals and pulse outputs, while the SmartConnect app supports safe and straightforward sensor integration. This makes the approach suitable for a wide range of sites, including sewage treatment plants with rainwater overflow basins, weather stations, river measuring points with oxygen measurement, external silos such as road salt silos, stable systems with exhaust air measurement, long-distance water pipelines for pressure and leakage monitoring, biogas plants, and ground-mounted PV systems. Operators can collect field data, transfer it securely to the cloud, and view the results on a clear dashboard for monitoring and automated action.

Key operational challenges

1. How can diverse sensors be acquired across distributed assets?
2. How can field data reach the cloud securely?
3. How can users turn measurements into timely action?

How senseca helps

1. Connect Different Sensors with Minimal Setup

Data loggers collect information from a broad range of sensors, including devices using common standard signals and pulse outputs. Multifunction inputs allow many sensor types to be connected and evaluated through the same data-logging platform. The SmartConnect app supports the safe and easy integration of sensors, while plug-and-play delivery reduces the work required during installation. Devices arrive ready for use and pre-parameterized; on site, the data logger only needs to be activated via Bluetooth. This approach helps teams deploy monitoring at sewage treatment plants, weather stations, river measuring points, silos, pipelines, biogas plants, and PV systems without creating a separate acquisition concept for every application.

2. Transfer Data Securely with Low-Power Connectivity

Once measurements have been acquired, the data logger transfers the information to the cloud via an E-SIM and modern transmission paths such as LTE-M or NB-IoT. Well-designed power management supports battery operation for up to 10 years, reducing the frequency of maintenance visits at remote or distributed measuring points. The factory-installed VPN SIM card adds a protected connection for data transmission. For applications involving water pipelines, biogas plants, external silos, sewage infrastructure, or energy assets, this combination supports reliable data transfer without depending on a local mains power supply or a site-specific communication installation.

3. Turn Measurements into Actionable Operations

Users can view their data on a clear dashboard and configure automatic responses based on the information collected in the field. Freely adjustable alarms can be sent by SMS, e-mail, or push message, helping shorten the response time when a value reaches a defined condition. The web portal is designed with security in mind and, according to the source notes, is certified, for example in accordance with ISO 27001 for data security. This supports applications where measurement data must remain protected and accessible, including critical infrastructure. By combining cloud-based visualization with individual alarms, the system helps customers monitor assets and act without waiting for manual data review.
