Name
Identification name of the sensor. You can assign the name, for example, of the sensor model, or the type of measured parameter. The name should begin with a letter and can be maximum 12 characters long. The name unequivocally identifies the measurement being input; you cannot assign the same name to multiple measurements.
Flux Density Unit (Unit of measurement)
Selecting the unit of measurement of the quantity detected by the sensor. The available settings are two: kLux and W/m2 (W/m2).
Channel UNI
It indicates the number of the analog input to which the sensor should be connected. The software automatically assigns the first input free. The number cannot be changed by the user.
Range
It is the measurement range of the datalogger input. Click on Range and then select a proper measurement range for the sensor being connected, so that the sensor output voltage value is within the chosen measurement range. You can select four measurement ranges: ±25mV, ±100mV, ±1000mV and ±2500mV.
In order to get the best range resolution, it is convenient to choose the input voltage range right above the output voltage range of the sensor. If the sensor output is too high to fall within the available input ranges, you should decrease the signal inserting a resistive divider between the sensor output and the datalogger input (please see the datalogger operating manual for the resistive dividers usage modes).
Sensitivity
Enter here the sensor sensitivity value. The entered value should be expressed in mV/(kW m-2) or mV/klux according to the type of quantity measured by the sensor. If the known sensitivity value uses a different unit of measurement, you need to convert it into the above mentioned units. You should only enter the numeric value, and not the unit of measurement.
For the sensors with direct output in mV, the sensitivity is stated by the manufacturer and is generally indicated on the sensor's box.
For the sensors with standardized voltage output, the sensitivity has to be calculated dividing the voltage output field by the physical quantity measurement field.
Error messages
If the configuration parameters are not correctly input, you can get the following error messages.
The name and Unit fields are required !
Cause: the identification name or the unit of measurement fields were not filled.
There is just an equivalent Name !
Cause: you previously entered a sensor with the same name. You should change the identification name.
Sensitivity must be positive !
Cause: the Sensitivity field has not been filled or zero has been entered.
